So a couple of years ago I started getting very bad acne, something that was new to me and something I lacked experience in. Frankly, I never had the best skin but up until this point I had not dealt with it to the extent of discomfort, pain, and immense insecurity. As soon as I got rid of one, in the matter of hours it seemed like another aching crater popped up on my face. I knew that it couldn’t stay like that forever.
I normally stuck to something very basic like the face wash by Neutrogena as my every day skincare regimen, along with using La Mer and La Prairie for both eye care and moisturizing purposes. However I tried different products from time to time, especially samples from purchasing, but my skin just seemed really angry and irritated and I had no clue as to why.
Then the moment my life took a turn for the worse and I had to downsize in budget it didn’t leave room for much. I was literally living out of a suitcase/duffle bag! The last thing on my mind was, do I have the right face wash? So whether it was the lack of proper product or simply my body changing–it sucked!
To be quite honest with you swanksters, trying to find skincare has always been mind boggling to me and such a tedious task. I’m so grateful for the beauty experts, gurus, and bloggers we have today. To me, looking for a new skincare product is the least bit like trying to find a swanktastic pair of shoes. Not my idea of fun at all. At least with shoes you get to try before you buy.
Now I know what some of you are thinking—did you try Proactiv? Yes I tried it. To no avail. I took a stab at it a few years ago for the minor, almost rash like, skin blemishes I would get at times that were incomparable to what I had began experiencing. I always knew Proactiv wasn’t for my skin type, plus all it did was dry my face out. No bueno.
But everything turned around for me when I was reading a book and the author shared how she prays for her husband at red stop lights. It was my aha! moment (in my Oprah voice). In my video I mentioned I was reading Joanna Weaver’s Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World yet it could have very well been Made to Crave for Young Women. Both were pivotal in my Christian walk. Anyway, I knew it–no need to ponder on it much longer, in my spirit I felt that was exactly what I was to do. Pray over my skin with healing as the focal point.
And so it began. I was rid of the planet acnes, but most importantly, it refueled my spiritual and prayer life. Eventually I delved into praying healing over others as well as healing in other areas aside from physical such as; emotional, spiritual, mental, and financial. I really am grateful to God and excited in being able to share this experience with you.
Below you can check out the video I did regarding the process on how I combated acne and the steps you can take to incorporate daily prayer into your everyday. It’s also great if you’re simply looking for an easy way to introduce daily prayer into your life.
Enjoy and God bless!

Step 1. Consider when you will pray. Let the Lord lead you. Some examples:
- brushing teeth
- washing face
- brushing/doing hair
- shaving
- doing makeup
- getting dressed
- showering/bath
- stuck in traffic
- driving
- shopping
- restroom at work
- cooking
- red stop light
- laundry
- cleaning
- washing dishes
- organizing
- dusting
- mopping/sweeping
- putting children to bed
Step 2. Allow God to lead you in what you will pray for:
- homeless
- disabled
- poverty
- military
- divorcees
- single parents
- families
- children (not just your own…there are foster, homeless, abused, lost)
- suicide
- depression
- hunger
- different countries
- cultures
- religion
- the lost
- unsaved
- addicts
- premarital sex
- finances
- politicians
- celebrities
- spouse
Step 3. Once you feel comfortable (everyone has a different pace so don’t worry on how soon or late it is) discover and be lead in meditation to scriptures that align with what you are praying for. In praying for healing, these are the bible verses that helped me. Make it fun and try different translations. You can even use different colors or draw on the cards. I mainly used the Amplified version to search health because I feel it is the closest translation to the original meaning.
For she kept saying, if I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to HEALTH. (Matthew 9:21 and Mark 5:28 AMP)
God = the Great Physician (Jeremiah 8:22)
So the waters were HEALED to this day, as Elisha had said. (2 Kings 2:22 AMP)
This story was so powerful to me because seeing that it wasn’t the salt that purified the waters but the belief behind it (salt = the symbol of God’s purifying power [2 Kings 2:20]). I apply that to whatever facial wash I use to clean my face.
Then to the centurion Jesus said, Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed. And the servant boy was restored to HEALTH at that very moment. (Matthew 8:13 AMP)
He HEALS the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrows]. (Psalm 147:3 AMP)
I said, Lord, be merciful and gracious to me; HEAL my inner self, for I have sinned against You. (Psalm 41:4 AMP)
…with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are HEALED and made whole. (Isaiah 53:5 AMP)
When evening came, they brought to Him many who were under the power of demons, and He drove out the spirits with a word and restored to HEALTH all who were sick. (Matthew 8:16 AMP)
Jesus turned around and, seeing her, He said, take courage, daughter! Your faith has made you well. And at once the woman was restored to HEALTH. (Matthew 9:22 AMP)
And He said to her, daughter, your faith (your trust and confidence in me, springing from faith in God) has restored you to HEALTH. Go in (into) peace and be continually HEALED and freed from you [distressing bodily] disease. (Mark 5:34 AMP)
And He said to him, get up and go on your way. Your faith (your trust and confidence that spring from your belief in God) has restored you to HEALTH. (Luke 17:19 AMP)
…By His wounds you have been HEALED. (1 Peter 2:24 AMP)
And Jesus said to him, Go your way; your faith has HEALED you. And at once he received his sight and accompanied Jesus on the road. (Mark 10:52 AMP)
O Lord my God, I cried to You and You have HEALED me. (Psalm 30:2 AMP)
Jehova-Rapha = God is our HEALER
